2020年6月29日，软科发布了“2020世界一流学科排名”，中国石油大学化学工程、船舶与海洋工程、矿业工程、能源科学与工程、机械工程、地球科学、环境科学与工程、纳米科学与技术、材料科学与工程等9个学科进入世界一流学科榜单。其中，船舶与海洋工程、化学工程、矿业工程进入世界前50名，4个学科进入国内高校前20名，5个学科进入国内高校前50名，8个学科进入国内高校前100名。
