2020年6月29日,软科发布了“2020世界一流学科排名”,中国石油大学化学工程、船舶与海洋工程、矿业工程、能源科学与工程、机械工程、地球科学、环境科学与工程、纳米科学与技术、材料科学与工程等9个学科进入世界一流学科榜单。其中,船舶与海洋工程、化学工程、矿业工程进入世界前50名,4个学科进入国内高校前20名,5个学科进入国内高校前50名,8个学科进入国内高校前100名。
